APPMU Indonesia
Privacy Policy

APPMU respects the privacy of all its users. In this privacy policy, we explain how we treat your personal data and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

What is APPMU?

APPMU is a mobile application template for various e-commerce businesses such as online shops, retail, salons, barbershops, etc, designed to help business owners build their mobile application without the needs of programming.

To make this possible, APPMU collects and processes certain data from clients to properly provide services to them. This may also include personal data.

For the processing of personal data, which APPMU conducts at its own initiative, such as the processing of our own customer data and collecting public data from their business’ customers, APPMU is considered the ‘controller’ in the sense of privacy legislation. In addition, APPMU may be ‘processor’ for certain operations on personal data in the sense of privacy regulations, for example, if its user chooses to exchange personal data in messages or when posting a social media message. For those services the customers of APPMU are the controllers.

What Personal Data Does APPMU Process?

Personal data in public data.
APPMU collects data from various information sources provided by clients such as social media and websites. It always regards public information, that is, data that has been actively shared online and can be found with a standard internet search engine, or by visiting the relevant websites. APPMU does not collect shielded information.

Some public data is provided to APPMU for which we collaborate with suppliers of this data, which are APPMU clients. We make arrangements with these suppliers to make sure that this takes place in conformity with user privacy settings, privacy regulations, their own privacy policies, and applicable terms & conditions. Social media messages are retrieved only through the respective official API channels.

Examples of personal data which may appear in public information are business names, business pictures, public account information, location information (if these are shared), and possibly other personal data included in messages. The visibility of a possible username, profile picture, or other personal data in APPMU does not only depend on whether this is public information. Public information is also pseudonymized if it does not contribute to the intended uses of APPMU. For example, comments on social media pages that are not managed by our customers are always pseudonymized, and those users are displayed as “Anonymous user” with an empty profile picture.

Furthermore, APPMU has taken as many technical and organizational measures as possible to make sure that when information is removed, shielded, or updated, it no longer appears in search results or is replaced with the updated version.

Personal data in customer data
APPMU also processes certain personal data of customers so as to properly provide services. Specifically, the name and contact information of the customer or of the contact person acting on behalf of the customer, their address (for example, for training visits, customer-relation maintenance, and satisfaction surveys), email address, phone number and bank information (for payments). In addition, APPMU uses personal data that is filled out on the contact page of this website, so requests submitted through this page can be handled correctly. For that purpose, name, email address, and phone number are shared with us based on consent.

For What Purpose Does APPMU Process Personal Data?

APPMU collects data to make public sources searchable for users to help businesses explore the impact of their mobile applications and measure their earning capabilities. APPMU helps customers to create a platform to promote, offer, and sell their products to perform measurably better in terms of brand awareness, brand preference, customer loyalty, and online conversions. In addition, APPMU collects customer data to be able to provide (technical) support to its customers.

In legal terms, as a controller, APPMU appeals to the legitimate interest of making the public Internet better discoverable and enabling its users to achieve the aforementioned goals.

In addition, APPMU processes personal data as a processor on the basis of the performance of a contract with its customers.

How Long Does APPMU Keep Personal Data?

APPMU stores data, among which personal data, only as far as is necessary to provide its services. The retention periods depend on the purpose for which we obtained or collected the data and any legal obligations.

Users of APPMU remain the owner of their data at all times and can export or delete their data at any time. Users can set their own data retention policy.

Does APPMU Transfer Personal Data with Third Parties?

APPMU does not share data, including personal data, with third parties, except for how is stated here. Access to data within the APPMU organization has been limited as much as possible to certain functions on a need-to-know basis for the performance of those functions.

In addition, users have access to collected public data under applicable laws and regulations such as the GDPR (Europe), the terms of use of APPMU, and those of the social media and chat platforms.

APPMU does not use sub-processors unless the user wishes to do so for the performance of the contract for the purposes listed below:

– Mobile Messaging & Live Chat (Indonesia, Japan);
– AI Content Generator (US).

We host the APPMU and data ourselves on secured servers in Singapore. It is our policy to limit working with third parties and to only use them if their specialization is strictly necessary to support our business processes. These collaborations are limited to large, trusted players within the EEA, Japan, and Indonesia to countries for which the European Commission has determined to comply with adequacy decisions, or to parties that guarantee privacy through standard contractual clauses.
